Masterson’s Tavern , nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I experienced behind its walls was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The State of Affairs: Grimy and Disregarded
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was apparent that hygiene was not a priority at this bar . The ground was covered in grime , and a foul smell of decaying beverages and dirty bathrooms polluted the entire establishment . Reeking of a mixture of urine , old age and sickness . The counter , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The restroom was in even more deplorable shape —overflowing , with a snapped lever and walls covered in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

Going through other patrons’ reviews and chatting with the community, it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at this so-called establishment is a well-known flaw . Many customers have reported observing cockroaches darting across the drink station and traces of mice in the adjoining rooms. As I investigated further , I was appalled to find accusations against him involving website sexual harassment , with multiple women check citing incidents of sending unsolicited explicit content . Described as disturbingly assertive and disrespectful , his actions has created an unwelcoming setting for women who visit Masterson’s.
